Last summer I had a gathering at my house here in Montana City outside of Helena.  Silvio and wife Jaye, Enrique Victerero and our Helena freinds Wally and Michelle Johnston and Gringo/Cuban Norbert Roth and wife Sue had a barbeque, we "Face Timed" Fernando Santana and after, Silvio started telling the story of the "Rumble" the Helana High guys planned on Brondel....and how the Carroll College football team showed up to defend the Cuban boys at Brondel....loved the story, have head it from Enrique, and then a very animated rendition from Silvio...would love to hear from the rest of you...your rendition of the "Rumble".....sounds like "West Side Story" Cuban style......

I remember looking for and grabing every conceivable piece of wood, metal or any hard material that could be used as a weapon.
I remember the guys from Carroll College arriving and one of them in particular had a contraption that you would wear in your forearm, it was made of leather and metal, the metal part you would wrap your fingers around it or use it open face, needless to say it would have done a lot of damage. I remember this well because before leaving that guy said to me, here kid you keep this. I kept it until I left Montana when Freddy and I were the only ones left at Brondel.
I remember walking the perimeter of the house (My first Combat Patrol) with Nick, my brother and Joe Parets, our sense of perception heightened and scanning everywhere. I remember a car full of screaming Helena High guys approaching the house only to be met with a curtain of rocks then quickly retreating the way they came. It was an interesting night. I remember hearing that it was all due to Oscar Ramirez's mistreating a girl from Helena High, some even said it was a plot from Castro to make us look bad and that even the FBI had been involved.
I had fun that night.

A Dream becoming a Reality
How it started
Last July when I attended the Cathedral/Central High All-Class reunion I stayed with Enrique Victorero.  One evening over a glass of wine Enrique and I started talking about organizing a Brondel Hall reunion.  At that point it was only a dream.  Two weeks later Diane Macaraeg-Lagenfus, Silvio, Jay, and Enrique got together with some classmates from the Class of 1967 for a BBQ.  I got a phone call while they were together to tell me that they were ready to start working on the Brondel Reunion.
At first I was just going to be a small group of people; but as the talks continue it got bigger, and bigger, and it has morphed into to Event of Century. For some of us it has been half a century since we have seen each other.  A lot has happened in the past 50 years.
And here we are in the mist of planning the BIG reunion.  Dreams do come true!
2012
It was a great year for me.  One of the highlights of the year was attending the ALL-class reunion in July.  Here is where I began gathering contact information for those Brondelians with who I had lost contact.  I always wanted to re-establish contact with Mario Toca and Juan Angulo.  Through John Wall, I got contact information for Mario and Ana Toca, from Mario I got contact info. for the O’Neills and chain reaction continue.  I was just wonderful being able to speak with all these folks on the phone.  I wrote a short blog in the Cathedral/Central High All-Class website and that also generated several contacts.
Needless to say the emotions and excitement of getting in touch with some of these folks were very high.  The day I spoke with Mario Toca, I couldn’t stop the tears of joy.  I love you Mario.  And then suddenly I got a message from Juan Angulo that was another day of excitement.  But the evening that I spoke with JoAnn and Jim O’Neill has to be of the most joyous moments of last year.  I was actually talking with two people that helped shaped my life.  They were young and they gave us so much love.  For that I will always be grateful and I will always treasure their love and friendship. I love you both.  I can go on and on; but it will take many pages to cover all the wonderful renewals.  I can’t wait to see all of you in person and give you a big hug.
My gratitude
Special thanks to the team for carrying on with this effort.
To Enrique Victorero for conceptualizing the Dream.
To Silvio and Jaye:  We are so lucky to have you on the team.  I have not met Jaye in person; but conversing with her on the phone makes me feel that I have known her for many years.  Silvio, you are so lucky to have such a wonderful wife.  Silvio has put many hours into this effort. Thank you.
To my little adopted Filipino/Chinese/Spanish/American sister, and Honorary Cuban Sister, Diane Macaraeg-Lagenfus.  Thank you for all the help in the planning and expertise you have brought to this team.  You are “our little Angel”.   I love you my dear.
To all of those that have contributed to this event in one way or another.  Gracias de todo Corazon.
I memory of those deceased
I will miss you at the reunion. But I know that you are Safely Home in Heaven watching us.
Love and Blessings.

Okay!! This is Tony Marti. I will be there! No more pressure and love, please!!! You are making me cry! I have booked my flight and I will arrive in Missoula on Thursday with Mario and Ana. They are in the same flight. I understand that Jim and JoAnn O' Neill will give Mario and Ana a ride to Helena. Jim and JoAnn, if you can also take me to Helena, I would appreciate it. Nice letter Jim and JoAnn. Thanks. You made Mario jealous!

Mario got upset at me for saying bad things about him!!! Do you believe it? He said things about me and now he gets angry at me! He is something else. It is going to be an interesting meeting in Helena. Just get him something to eat, please!

Okay, all this bring "happy" memories!

And Damaso and Fernando, please no fights or I will send you to your rooms and no five dollar allowances! Oreste, don't worry. I won't ask you for a haircut. No hair!
Capon, get off my bus!
Quique, you will be going to confession at 8:00 pm at the hospital!!! Please don't give the priest a heart attack!
Larry, please keep your cool, man. Don't let Quique get you upset!
Amaro, could you please return to the hotel by 2:00 am? That is not too much to ask, isn't it?
Hector, stop smiling! What's going on?
Aldo, this thing about cars..stop making excuses and tell us where you have been.
Emilio, please don't get into any fights. Those guys are gone!
Silvio, we know what you are up to.
Nick, I am not sure I ever knew where you were and what you did!
Jorge Ulfe! Come on Ulfe, stop telling me stories.

Thanks to Emilio I looked at the web page. It is challenging for me despite the fact that I have an i phone, i pad, etc. You guys have done an extraordinary job. I will have to look at everything and see what I am going to be doing. Next is booking a hotel. See you soon.

Blessings and abrazos,

Tony

I AM SURE ALL OF YOU HAVE TAKEN A WALK THROUGH OUT THE WEBSITE, BUT IF YOU HAVE NOT YET SEEN SILVIO'S PHOTO GALLEY OF MONTANA ON THE SITE, YOUR MISSING OUT.  GO TO THE LAST PAGE OF YOUR MENU TO THE LEFT, IT'S CALLED "EVERYDAY IN MONTANA". AS I WATCHED THE SLIDE PRESENTATION I REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH SILVIO AND JAYE AND THEIR FAMILY LOVE MONTANA.  IT IS CAPTURED BEAUTIFULLY, DON'T MISS IT....

AND DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS EVENT! WERE TO OLD TO DO IT AGAIN.....
HUGS

Remember When I was young so were you. So it begins a song by Larry Jackson I look at this tremendous efforts by the Helena group and in a way it reflects our lives a purpose of going forward and closing the deal/goal it is up to the rest of us to answer the call that has been issued as a lot of us did many years before.  We can and will be measured one day on our individual efforts achievements but here we have the chance to do something together to show who we were and who we became. As Dad and Mom O'Neil so clearly articulated it is happening for a reason and aside from honoring them we should also honor ourselves for what we are and who we were.

God Bless let's do it those that have not answered  the call from the mountains ; it is time to do so it will be good for the soul
